Why Does Feedback Culture Matter and How Does It Benefit Your Organization?

You may sometimes ask yourself why does feedback culture matter?  Today, employees from all over the world feel underrated and detached than ever before. In a recent survey, around 34% of total employees in America feel undervalued. while 64% of the employees are disgruntled and plan to quit their jobs. Most employees think that they spend a significant chunk of their lives in the offices. So it’s crucial for them to feel appreciable and recognizable.

To overcome this challenge, building a solid employee culture in the organizations is needed. The culture where employees could sense the atmosphere of positive growth and higher productivity of their skills. One of the best ways to raise employee engagement, morale, and productivity is by creating an environment of a feedback culture. Suppose the employees of an organization are free to communicate to management and could question the organization’s decision-making on specific issues. In that case, they’re more likely to feel a part of the organization.

Furthermore, providing employees with feedback on the team’s projects gives them a sense of ownership over their work. This way, they might begin to understand the full impact of their efforts and their value on the company. From an organizational point of view, regular feedback can create brighter individuals and a more effective team.

The proper strategy of thriving feedback culture:

The open feedback mechanism is the most efficient way to start a feedback culture in any corporation. It allows employees to provide insights into company operations on day-to-day business practices. However, many companies are still opting for annual reviews to communicate feedback on their employee’s performance. Unfortunately, this approach doesn’t always promote workplace culture and could even strangle business progress and development.

On the contrary to this, day-to-day business practices feedback provides many additional benefits. It helps employees feel valued and take ownership. It encourages employee growth, creates a healthy working environment, and opens the doors for new ideas to challenge one’s perspective. Hence, we can say that feedback culture empowers the employees and brings valuable change.

How to create an influential feedback culture:

Firstly, you need a proper strategic plan. Some companies give expertise in these domains, and you can consult with them to formulate the right strategic plan.  You could also do it by yourself. Try to meet with employees more frequently, organize feedback training programs for management positions, provide multiple feedback avenues to employees (anonymous surveys and brainstorming sessions), etc.

Most importantly, try to act on the feedback provided by the employees. Try to discuss the impacts of your changes and explain why you made such a decision. Always remember, feedback culture is all about acting on the responses you achieved.
